I undertand Sybase Central ( A front end tool from Sybase to connect to
SQL Server) ships free with 11.5. It also connects to 11.0.3. Has anyone
installed this product in any groups. How dows it compare to WSIQL2 ?
Here is something from comp.databases.sybase. newsgroup

Yes, you can do that with Sybase Central.

Hi there,

There is a misunderstanding here.
Sybase Central is the newer version of SQL Central.
SQL Advantage is the newer version of WISQL32. Has more functionality
and doesn't have the 32K limit for the resultset or timeout problems.

You can use Sybase Central to generate DDLs (scripts for objects), but
not to transfer the data. For the data transfer you use bcp.
Of course, this applies to object and data transfer across servers.
On the same server, just use select into.

Hope this helps,

Sybase Central is a nice addition much better than SQL Manager, included
with open client 11.x and Sybase Central is a tool called SQL Advantage
which is much nicer than WISQL.

In SQL Server Manager, I can sort the tables based on creation date but
in sybase central I can't do that.

Yes, there are improvements in SQL Advantage than WISQL32 but you need to
adapt the new keystroke if you are familiar with WISQL.

I use Sybase SQL server 11.5 on NT 4.0 and use DBArtisan 4.02 to connect from
my PC running Win 95. I installed Sybase SQL Central a couple of days ago and
I am still able to use DBArtisan without losing any connections to the
server.

I installled the Sybase open client & Sybase SQL Central into the same
c:\SQL10 directory. Did you do something else?

Reinstall your open client and make sure you are able to ping the server
using dsedit.

This should help.

Cheers!
