postgresql VFS layer?

Does anyone know of a pgsql VFS, preferably for linux? It seems that this would be a great way to bring some file system semantics to simple operations on tables, functions, etc.

I'm particularly interested in being able to edit functions directly. (I appreciate that this is difficult because functions are qualified by return and arg types.) Being able to select (insert? update) rows from a table would be handy, too (with pkeys as filenames?).

Comments and pointers to code are appreciated.
