Anybody have the escape sequence to condense printing on a pcl6 printer? How
about portrait/landscape?

I have searched and searched, including the newsgroup. What I found is that
there are a few other people, at one time or another, that are looking for the
codes but there are no response. Is PCL6 programming a special/secret club?

I appreciate any coding help you can provide. I had some 'older' laser printers
and they worked fine (Brother HL-1040/HL-1050). Ever since I moved up to the
HL-1240/HL-1440, the same codes do not work. We just purchased a Ricoh digital
copier with a printer option, this works on pcl6 and I have the same problem.

Thanks for any help.

Go here:

http://www.hp.com/cposupport/printers/support_doc/bpl02705.html

You can also order reference manuals for PCL from HP. They are very useful
for all things PCL.

I think HP makes more from Reference Manuals (and ink cartridges ) than
they ever made selling the original printers. Have you priced the manuals
recently? Talk about extortion. <;=)

I had a gig in Boulder and the client paid for the books. Three manuals at
about $60. Maybe a little pricey but well worth it when you need the info.

Does anyone have a web address where I can buy these (PCL6) manuals online?
I couldn't find anything on HP's site. But it's early Monday morning here,
so it could just be my eyes.

Many Thanks,

Don,

To get a copy of the manuals, go to http://partsdirect.hp.com. Search by
part number using 5021-0377. I was just there a minute ago, so I know it
works.

One trick is to set the printer to do a hex dump using the buttons on the printer,
then do a test print to it from a windows box. Then reverse-engineer that using
what documents you do have about older models of printer. I'm really surprised
your new printer isn't backwards-compatible with the older ones -- sure you've
got it in the right emulation mode using the buttons on the printer?

it's probably the same as for a pcl5. had some problems with pcl 6 by the
way. it tries to do real
high res etc. hp has documentation though. just go to
their site.

I tried to find the PCL6 codes on their site but I must be using the wrong
search. Anybody happen to find the right page and can give me the link?

The item you are looking for is a set of manuals on PCL 5. It is HP part
number 5021-0377. Try the URL partsdirect.hp.com. You may have to do a
bit of searching, but eventually you will get to a point where you can
order the manual set (a bit pricey, but worth it).
