A similar article was posted yesterday at Infoworld

It's not surprising, really. The rise in the level of complexity of
today's development languages, tools, frameworks, etc. has far
outpaced any true benefits delivered to developers and end users.

Think for a moment just how much CPU power, memory, disk, and
supporting software (tools/frameworks) is required to produce a simple
"Hello World" application in .Net. It's absurd.
