hello,

can anybody tell me what new/advanced features Oracle 7 give me compared with Oracle 6 ?

With other words. Which arguments will an Oracle saleswo/man give me when s/he tries to sell
Oracle 7 when I already have Oracle 6.

Is there a featurelist available anywhere?

Thanks.

sorry I don't have a summary at hand. Oracle magazine recently
had a two part series on the history of the Oracle RDBMS, so if
you don't mind reading the propaganda...

Not sure, but one big problem is that Oracle has announced that
v6 will not be supported after the end of the year (1995).

Aren't most of the referential integrity SQL enhancements
only working in v7? Also the database triggers, packages,
functions, etc. ?

Oracle's new development tools probably integrate better with
a v7 server.

Upgrading our Netware Oracle server from v6 to v7 was pretty
easy, why not just do it?

Possibly at the FAQ address?

http://www.bf.rmit.edu.au/~dtb/orafaq/contents.html

The FAQ site is maintained by an independent Oracle consultant
in Australia, not by Oracle Corp.

If you have problems getting in, let me know.

Well, besides the functional differences (back end referential integrity
enforcement being, IMHO, one of the most important), there's the fact that
V7 is supported and V6 is not supported (unless you're in the V6$$ support
extension program, in which case you get nominal support until December).
