DBA opportunity in Orange County
Kevin Merritt
that's leading the revolution to automate the
warehousing and distribution industries, is
looking for an experienced Oracle Database
Administrator (DBA).
Your professional and educational background
should include at least four years experience
working with Oracle, including two years as
a full-time DBA with at least one year of
experience as a DBA on Unix server running
Oracle version 7. In addition, you should be a
polished professional who has achieved
measurable success tuning transaction oriented
Oracle applications. You should also be able to
instruct programmers and lead database design
discussions. You should have a degree from a
major university and should have attended DBA
training classes through Oracle Corporation.
In particular, we are looking for a DBA
candidate with experience optimizing all
aspects of an Oracle database in a true
Client/Server environment. Specifically,
you should be very adept at:
* Optimizing SQL
* Optimizing PL/SQL
* Using EXPLAIN PLAN
* Using ANALYZE
* Using SQL_TRACE and TKPROF
* Using MONITOR
In addition, you should know your way around
the SGA, the INIT.ORA file, I/O balancing, memory
cacheing, Unix kernel tuning and SQL*Net tuning.
This is a highly visible, "key" position in
our company. The challenges and the rewards
are great. A high salary or a very competitive
salary plus stock options await the top
candidate. We prefer to have this integral
position filled by an employee, but for the
uniquely qualified individual, we will consider
a self-employed consultant (principals only,
please).
Somerset is a fast growing, five year old
"start-up" software company that recently
began redeveloping its award winning Warehouse
Orchestrator warehouse management system. We
are porting our legacy system into a thoroughbred
Oracle client/server application.
We are developing the industry's most intuitive
"work-centric" user interface using Borland's Delphi,
an object oriented rapid application development
tool based on Object Pascal. We plan on offering a
Windows 3.1 and a Windows 95 version of our front
end. We also have plans to support a three tier
client/server architecture in 1996 by integrating
Novell's Tuxedo TP Monitor into our system.
