Hi,
I am new to Oracle. What books are required to pass the exams
1. Introduction to Oracle9i: SQL (#1Z0-007)
2. Oracle 9i Database: Fundamentals I (#1Z0-031)
Also is selftestsoftware better than Transcender?

is it enough if have personal Oracle installed to practise whatever I
learn to pass the exams?

thanks for your help.

I can't comment on the books. But no: Personal Edition is definitely not
enough. The course material (on which the exams are largely based) assumes
Enterprise Edition (occasionally remembering to state that feature X or
feature Y is *only* available in the Enterprise Edition). The 9i New
Features course, which is the basis for the 9i upgrade exam, will even
expect you to know about partitioning -which isn't even a standard component
of the Enterprise Edition, but a paid-for extra.

So, it's time to dump Windows 98 and move up to Windows 2000 (there's always
Linux, of course, if that's too expensive), and download the free Enterprise
Edition from technet.oracle.com. If you want to take the exams seriously,
that is.

It's also time you didn't cross-post.

Regards
HJR

Prakash,

The books below might be sufficient for you to pass the exam, but real life
experience would be better. Personal Oracle will be OK for you to try
everythig you are reading from this books. SelfTests are pretty much close
to the real tests, I would say.

Get your hands on Oracle RDBMS and practice as much things as you read.

Check the latest Oracle DBA forums for more information at:

Hope that helps,

If you want to stick with windows then I'd advise WinXP *Professional*. 2000
is an excellent OS but XP appears to me to be an improvement.

Just my opinion.

Now if anyone can suggest a better newsreader than OE I'd be grateful.

that's easy:

Microplanet Gravity
or
Forte Free Agent.

Assuming you don't mind losing a bit of the "rich multimedia
experience", that is...

Hi,
Do we need to prepare for PL/SQL programming , for writing the exam
1Z0-007, Oracle 9i , Oracle Certified Associate. .
The information available at
http://www.oracle.com/education/downloads/dba9i_cg.pdf page 12
doesn't mention about PL/SQL. But the exam 1Z0-001, has PL/SQL
included in it for the exam.

I am confused about the test content for the exam.

Thanks,

Naveen
