Hello.
Product is Oracle 11g Enterprise Edition.

I am creating an database using the Database Configuration Assistant.
During the install, the following products are automatically checked
off for installation:

Oracle JVM
Oracle Text
Oracle XML DB
Oracle Multimedia
Oracle OLAP
Oracle Spatial
Oracle Ultra Search
Enterprise Manager Repository
Oracle Application Express
Oracle Warehouse Builder

Which, if any, of these are licensed as part of the Oracle 11g EE
license? (At this time we have not purchased any additional options.)

I fairly sure that OLAP and Spatial are separately licensed options,
but I'm not sure about the others.

Can anyone offer some guidance? I don't want to install waht is not
licensed.

Thank you.

If was from that pricing guide that I determined that OLAP and Spatial
were licensed separately. Since the others aren't listed as separate
options, are they included as part of the base Oracle 11g Enterprise
Edition product?

(Since we are probably only using the base RDBMS for the time being, I
may just err on the side of caution for now and not install any of
these options, though Application Express may be nice to play around
with.)

A subset of the tool's functionality (referred to as ‘in-Database
ETL’) is included in the Enterprise Edition license.

I'm going to assume that the JVM may be included as well, though I
haven;t seen anything that specifically states that. Still trying to
find out about th eEnterpriise Manager Repository.

This is used by dbconsole, which is included as a teaser for grid
control.

From http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/license.111/b28287/editions.htm#BABDJGGI

"A separate Oracle Database can be installed and used as a Oracle
Enterprise Manager Grid Control (OEM Grid Control) repository without
additional license requirements, provided that all the targets
(databases, applications, and so forth) managed in this repository are
correctly licensed. This database may also be used for the RMAN
repository. It may not be used or deployed for other uses."

For RMAN, you don't want it's repository in your production db, since
the repository would be used to restore the db. RMAN doesn't need a
repository, it's nice to have if you have more than a few databases.

There are some things that are included for use by Oracle internal
mechanisms, that would otherwise need to be licensed. I don't know if
JVM is one of those, but since it is used at least by dbconsole, and
doesn't seem to be priced anywhere, go ahead. It is not in XE, which
is one of the limitations of XE. Apex is pretty handy, and is free
AFAIK.

Unfortunately Oracle "products" displayed by Oracle Universal
Installer don't match Oracle "products" and "options" listed in the
licensing guide. In some cases separately licensed "item" doesn't even
need to be installed - for example, you need a license to run queries
against view ACTIVE_SESSION_HISTORY (and its derivatives).

I think for 11g most commonly used separately licensed options would
be:
- partitioning
- real application testing/database replay
- on-the-fly compression
- OEM "packs" such as Diagnostics and Tuning

This list is not complete, you need to read licensing manual for all
details.
