I’ve been getting emails from this group for many years after quitting it. When I try to end the emails I get this message, “Leave failed, not a member”. Now this tells me that the software managing this group is flawed and/or whoever is managing it is asleep at the wheel. So, whoever is managing this cluster f. needs to remove any and ALL connections with my email address and determine if resources are being used to manage unwilling and non-existent recipients. It would also be reasonable to let the membership know what the problem is so it can be avoided in the future.

If you are posting here and getting no response, the site may not be forwarding your posts to your intended audience. I recommend leaving and rejoining the group to be sure you’re properly registered as a member.

Well, it isn't a site, and it doesn't forward - that's the Usenet News
infrastructure. Google, on the other hand, just isn't doing it right, as
you have already said. SO leaving and joining won't work anyway.

And since almost all posters are recruitment spammers, who are presumably
told to post their spam in some number of "forums" and don't care which
or how many get a response, and who expect to be contacted through other
channels anyway...

That would be Google. Not a person there, just some automated stuff. Oh,
and this is not a Google Group, they just provide an interface and
pretend that it is.

See above. But if you are "joined" at the moment, you should be able to
turn emails off in "My membership settings".

I think anyone who cares already knows. And there's pretty much nothing
here now except recruiter spam anyway. An unknown number of people still
look at the group, probably just out of habit.

And the "Google Group" interface is the source of almost all of the spam
of any sort.

As this is not a normal Google Group, it has no owner or manager (as a
Google Group) except Google themselves.

This is a Usenet News Group meaning that, among other things, there is
no "owner", and no central server.

This message was _not_ posted via Google Groups.
