Hi!

I read in the fine Database Backup and Recovery Advanced User's Guide
(10.2.0.1), that
for using the BLOCKRECOVER feature...

"You must have a full RMAN backup. Incremental backups are not used by
block media recovery."

I would like to know if this restriction is caused by the existence of
a theoretical or a practical obstacle.

Any comments are welcome.

Just guessing... the block is not included in the incremental backup,
or it would take too many incremental backups to find the block(s)?

Well, I just recovered _one_ corrupt block of a 120Gbyte database.
Unfortunately, the last full backup was 5 days old (we have a weekly
full backup and daily incrementals),
and the media recovery phase took 26 hours.
If the incremental backups could have been used in the first phase, the
media recovery wouldn't have taken so long (maybe 2 to 4 hours).
