Yes, thank you. I also found this portlist.ini file and see that it is
actually port number 1158. BTW, mine is on WinXp pro with SP2.

I think that the oracle db console service is for this enterprise
manager, right? I have difficulty turning on this service. Click on
the following link to see the problem:

As a follow-up, I checked the Event Viewer, and I see this:

The description for Event ID ( 12 ) in Source ( Oracle.oracle11g )
cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary
registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a
remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to
retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The
following information is part of the event: oracle11g.

But, not sure what it means and where I use that /AUXSOURCE=flag
stuff.

Somehow, this oracledbconsoleoracle11g service gets started, at least
the services window shows that its status is "started".

I then tried to check out http://localhost:1158/em, but guess what,
only get this a few un-readable characters. See below for the screen
shot.

http://gnewsgroup.googlepages.com/em

I viewed the html source. It turns out that there those messy
characters are all there is in the source, not a single html tag is
there.
