I have installed 10g crs and set the ORA_CRS_HOME=$ORACLE_BASE/product/
10.1.0/crs_1.

I know that it is impossible to change ORA_CRS_HOME when upgrade to
10gR2 but is it possible to change ORA_CRS_HOME when upgrade to 11g
crs?

If not, does it mean that I need to uninstall and then install crs
instead of upgrade?

What is the best location of ORA_CRS_HOME?

Thanks.

No. You can't change the basic location when upgrading.

Yes.

Note that symbolic links work really well provided you don't remove them
by accident.

I don't think you can do it during an upgrade but you can try to clone
it to a different location before or after upgrade. Reinstall would be
simpler.

I keep it in a separate tree from database software, e.g. /u01/crs/
oracle/...

But you must know what happens then. A few years down the line and...
