Why do you keep asking the same question? How much downtime do you have?
How big is/are your database(s)? Why don't you hire someone competent?
Why don't you plan a few alternatives and test them on a subset of the
data in a non-production environment?

Those were serious questions. Given that your company has already hired
someone competent, shouldn't he/she be the one offering the alternatives
and recommending a solution? We can't, because there are a few
fundamental questions to which you have not provided answers.

So, as Palooka asked you:

- How much downtime do you have?
- How big is/are your database(s)?
- Why don't you plan a few alternatives and test them on a subset of

the data in a non-production environment?

.. and it's a sad day when another Alpha server is shut down.... BTW,
When RAC first came out, it did and still does only works [well] as
designed on 2 OS platforms... Tru64 and OpenVMS.

Exp/Imp - iirc, you have an endianess problem at your hand
and 10G cannot convert tablespaces from little endian to big.

HP/UX 11.23 will be itanium (Intel).

Here's a faq, showing how right you are: http://h30097.www3.hp.com/transition/faqs.html#0602

But then again, I see this:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/backup.102/b14194/rcmsynta018.htm#RCMRF192
(and it does appear to be in the platform list). Of course I haven't
actually tried it.

Since I had to exp/imp anyways (risc to itanium) due to app
requirements, it wasn't really an issue for me, but the app needs to
know endianess, so I had to figure it out.
