Hi all,

I've noticed that TNSLSNR.EXE is still running as a background process
after Oracle 10g has been deinstalled from a Win 2000 Advanced Server
machine...

Is there an explanation for this ?

Thank you

If all the 10g Oracle related services and ORACLE_HOME\bin directory
were removed by deinstall and there are no other Oracle homes then this
must be one of those "Windows thingy".

if the listener process was still running when you attempted to run the
software, a thing referred to as a 'handle' would still remain on the
file, hence, that file and its dependent files were not in fact
removed.

stop the service, remove the registry entry for the service, reboot,
and you can remove the files manually.
There is a doc (several, actually) that cover this in detail.
