Any ideas how to resolve this problem? I have a ksh script on HPUX which uses
SQL*Loader to load a table. The shell command is:

sqlload control=SAMPLE.CTL, userid=${ORAUSER}/${ORAPSWD}

The value of the $ORAPSWD variable is similar to this: sample#password

Receive error:
SQL*Loader: Release 7.3.2.3.0
SQL*Loader-925: Error while logging on to ORACLE (ulmconnect)
ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied

Problem seems to be the "#" character in password. I've tried to escape the
password as in: sample\#password without success. Password cannot be changed
due to a number of administrivial reasons.

I guess the comma between SAMPLE.CTL and userid is just a typo? I don't
recall it belongs there. Maybe you could specify the userid in the control
file itself, or use a here-document:

sqlload control=SAMPLE.CTL userid=${ORAUSER}<<EOF
${ORAPSWD}
EOF

Arjan.

In article <6udv3q$g9$1...@pascal.a2000.nl>,
Arjan, Thanks. I should have mentioned in my post that I did try putting it in
the control file without luck. Also, the comma seems to be required.
