I am hoping someone with experience with Oracle Forms may come across
this message and help me. Every now and then I get this error FRM-10044
when I try to save my form on the local machine. The error says "Can not

create file". I have a simple form with one simple block in it and I can

not save it. I tried quiting FORMS and restarting the machine but I
still get the error. In the past I was able to just ignore my machine
for a couple of hours and when I would come back I'd be able to do work
and save. Anybody know what causes this error?

Please be free to email me with your help.

Thanx.

There are a couple of things I can think of that might cause this:

1. You don't have enough free disk space to save the form. And, no,
just because you read the form from that disk, it doesn't mean you can
necessarily write the same, unaltered form back to the same disk
space. We've seen this happen often in our shop. If you're using a
shared disk, that might explain why you can come back a couple of
hours later and everything works...maybe someone is cleaning off some
disk space during that time.

2. You don't have write access on the form. You could still read the
form into the editor and make your changes, you just couldn't save it.
This could easily be the problem if you're using any configuration
management software, where you have to check out the file before you
edit it (as we do here).

Hope this helps.

1. Maybe not enough memory. Shut down other running applications,
especially your internet browser.

2. You might have a corrupted form. If you use visual attributes, make
sure the Forms designer hasn't accidentally created one with no name. If
so, delete it.

3. Try creating a brand-new form from the old one: open a new form in
the Navigator, set it's coordinate system to the same as the old form.
Then copy the window, canvas, blocks, and everything else over to the new
form. This should clean up the problem. (I have a page of steps that I
use to do this right). I have posted it on the Sacramento Oracle Users
group web site. URL is

Normally this happens when there is another user using this forms. Maybe
you have open it twice?.
Example: If you have a form with attached libraries and you open one of
this libraries and try to modify and save it you will have the same error.
