Does the Data Gatherer (DG) in Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) version 2.0.4
have to be installed in the same location as the repository? The repository
is 7.3.4.4 and DG is included w/Intelligent Agent 8.0.4 or later. This
would imply creating a separate 8.0.4 oracle home and installing DG only.
Metalink document ID# 62089.1 states that DG can be installed remotely (on a
separate node from the repository) as long as OEM has discovered the node.
Can anyone out there share their experiences?

The data gatherer is part of the oracle server, not part of the
intelligent agent. The intelligent agent should be 8.0.5.1 inorder to
work correctly with oem 2.0.4 . You must install the intelligent agent
in a seperate home and make sure the old dbsnmp executiable is renamed
or removed.

Jim,

Depending on the platform...
You should use 8.0.5 ot perferably an 8.1.x agent.
The 8.0.4 agent was seperate from the dg and the dg was buggy.
You can run the dg on an NT box to monitor stats for a unix box, but
you wont get all the OS stats
