The Java Architect should command a thorough understanding of service-oriented architecture (SOA) with an emphasis on core Java and J2EE.
Candidate should have a thorough understanding of the following:
* Design patterns and the ability to provide examples of their use and a solid understanding of N-tiered application design.
* Knowledge of practices and principles of automated unit testing with practical experience.
* Proven leadership experience
* Experience creating and maintaining relationships with IT and business contacts
* Ability to work with and communicate effectively with all levels of management
Essential Functions
* Work with other members of the project team and business owners to refine and clarify business requirements.
* Produce technical specifications from project requirements.
* Code and test software when necessary
* Support and review the work of developers.
* Properly track progress, effort, issues and resolutions.
* Communicate and document status to project leadership.
Experience, Qualifications and Technical Skills and Abilities
* In-depth design and programming skills with a strong background in Java is required.
* In-depth knowledge of design patterns and multi-tier architectures.
* In-depth knowledge of high-availability enterprise platforms and architectures.
* A proven ability to lead development teams to successful project implementation.
* Exceptional problem solving abilities.
* An ability to communicate clearly in both written and verbal form.
* Experience with some/many of the following:
Spring Framework and Spring MVC, Hibernate, Apache, Oracle, SQL, JSP, Velocity, Eclipse IDE, Maven, JUnit, Subversion, Ant, Tomcat, JBoss, MQ, EasyMock or JMock, Emma or Cobertura, FitNesse, Ajax libraries like YUI!, prototype, or JQuery, Axis2 or Spring WS, SoapUI
