Description: Job Code: 2663 Post Date: January 19, 2010 Category: Database Development/Design and Maintenance Title: Oracle DBA Location: Germantown, Maryland Description: Seeking qualified Oracle DBA to perform the following duties:
Supporting Lead DBA by developing and/or maintaining optimized database structures for complex systems utilized by DOE, at the database layer. This includes object design, system architecture, data modeling, performance tuning, developing stored procedures, views and triggers, etc. using PL/SQL. System environment includes Oracle, WebLogic, Sun Solaris. Performing database software upgrades and patches on an as-needed basis Providing immediate and direct assistance to Helpdesk team and calls from end-users requiring application support at the database level, as well as other DBA-type activities Working with team leads to create accurate level of effort estimates and schedules Creating and maintaining tools that simplify Database Support tasks Troubleshooting performance issues on the application backend & databases Tuning SQL queries and database performance for OLTP and DSS applications Designing, coding, and testing new features and functionality based on requirements provided Interfacing directly with all members of the team on a daily basis in order to ensure a 99% uptime and system availability for this enterprise application. Potential to interface with Federal customers on occasional basis. Learning the application and end-user requirements in order to sufficiently understand system processing needs and suggest enhancements, improvements and alternative system performance factors Remaining abreast of new technologies and capabilities and suggest these for consideration in order to provide a better, more efficient, more cost-effective solution for our customer Education: BS in Information Technology or related field
MUST BE CLEARABLE TO A TS/DOE Q CLEARANCE Experience: Must have five (5) or more years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
Required Experience:
3+ years experience with Sun Solaris Operating System and UNIX Shell Scripting (or equivalent). Oracle Installation and Oracle Development experience
Qualifications:
Extensive knowledge of Oracle, SQL and PL/SQL and SQL*Net protocol layer Familiarity with Oracle Advanced Security Option and JDBC connections Understanding of Unix systems and database performance tuning Must be a team player, highly motivated, a self-starter with unique and new ideas, as well as a commitment to quality work Excellent communication skills both written and oral Excellent problem analysis and resolution skills Broad knowledge of IT security Strong organizational, planning and analytical skills Familiarity with government systems and Federal contracting environment
Desired:
Unix shell scripting Processing Binary Large Objects within the Oracle database Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), Oracle SQL Developer or equivalent Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) Experience with business intelligence-type SW, specifically MicroStrategies Knowledge of Federal security mandates, guidelines and compliancy rules Comments:  !-- #########################################################################
