It sounds like you have loaded a new ORACLE client (i.e. 9i). Contact
support and they can tell you what line to add to codmor.ini

Impromptu 6 did not exist when oracle 9 was released, therefore it is not
supported and is looking for version 8.1.7 and earlier dll's. The only
chance you have of making this work (and I have seen it work) is to modify a
file called cogdmor.ini located in the x:\program files\cognos\cer1\bin
directory. At the bottom of that file you will see different versions of
dll's and software listed for oracle. You can try adding an entry for
version 9 and supply the correct dll name. That should hook you up.
Cheers.

When I received this error I first attempted to verify my Microsoft
Oracle ODBC settings and was unable to connect to the database. I
noticed that the computer did not have the c:\orant\bin path in the
enviromental variables. After adding the path I was able to connect to
the database and the error went away.

Just wanted to share this with you guys and see if it helps.

Hi

I have the same problem with Impromptu on Win. 2k.
I checked the enviromental variables and the ora/bin path is included.

Did you have a solution???

Thanks in advance.

People, people.

Oracle 9 did not exist when Impromptu 6 was released. How could it possibly
support 9? Now that my rant is over, here's 3 solutions to the problem.
All will render the product into an "unsupported" environment, but hey,
whatever works.

1. Install Oracle 8.1.7 client and ensure that you setup your tnsnames.ora
entries accordingly to connect to the version 9 database. You should then
be able to use a normal native Oracle connection to use impromptu. (Please
note: Step 2 may need to be taken in addition to this step)

2. In the x:\program files\cognos\cer1\bin directory you will find a file
called cogdmor.ini. In this file (towards the end I believe) it will list
versions and the dll's that they use. Simply add the appropriate version 9
entries (copy and paste the 8.1.7 entry and modify accordingly). None of
these changes will take affect until Impromptu is restarted as it reads the
ini file on launch.

3. Use ODBC

Has anyone used this method to resolve the issue. I need to find the
exact line to place in the cogdmor.ini file.
