Planning Sciences announces support for Sun's JavaStation™

New York, NY, USA, October 29, 1996

~ JavaStation debut confirms Gentia® Web DSS product of choice ~

Planning Sciences International Plc (NASDAQ: PLNSY), will be featured
today in Sun Microsystems' Java™ Enterprise Solutions Event in New York
City.

Gentia® allows senior managers to perform business analysis across the
Inter/Intranet. It is the most complete DSS product available today,
combining a scalable OLAP database with a sophisticated DSS application
development environment. The software enables simultaneous deployment of
single applications across the Web and native client platforms such as
Solaris and Windows.

Web deployment of Gentia applications is made possible by integrated
Java applets which extend standard HTML to create charts and other
visual objects. Browser users can perform the same level of interactive
analysis as native Gentia users and avoid rebuilding existing
applications using stored procedures or HTML tags.

"The Web will soon be a preferred method of delivering decision support
information for the Fortune 1000," says Wayne Eckerson, analyst at The
Patricia Seybold Group in Boston. "Planning Sciences is well positioned
to take advantage of this trend because its software seamlessly supports
its customers throughout the transition from the native desktops of
today to the network computers of tomorrow."

Customers can also integrate their own Java applets into Gentia
applications simply by attaching them to Gentia pages. This will enable
customers committed to Java computing to extend their Gentia
applications for the Web.

"Our business and product strategies are well aligned with Sun's," said
Paul Rolph, Chairman and CEO at Planning Sciences. "That's what makes
Java and Gentia such a powerful combination for Web applications. We
feel that this alliance will lead to continued success both for
ourselves and our customers."
