This could be someone who has 6 – 12 months Essbase development
experience or someone with several years experience. The key is
someone with a solid understanding of the fundamentals behind
Essbase, someone who is over the initial learning curve.
This is not a management role. It is a support position with a small
and very dynamic team that supports the Hyperion suite across the
entire enterprise. This team does what has to be done to keep things
moving so you have to be able to figure things out.
If you have back-off from learning/using new technology to do
something you’ve not done before then this job is not for you.
You must be comfortable with and enjoy learning new things and doing
things you may not have done before: for example, supporting a web
server, coding in SQL or some scripting language, installing software,
handling user support requests, performing Hyperion administrative
tasks, etc.
Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential. This is not
a backroom techie position. You must be able to take direction and run
with it, fit into a small group of people, and expect occasions where
you will be interacting with upper level management.
We are looking for someone with a proven technical aptitude, someone
who enjoys the technical side of things, and has a strong desire to
learn new things. This does not have to be in the Hyperion space. This
position is a combination of business knowledge and technical
capabilities. So, for example, it could be someone who has done
scripting in VBscript or Perl or messed around with computer networks
or built web pages in their spare time, etc.
The successful applicant needs to show a similar level of interest in
computer technology and a willingness to get in there and get the job
done.
The team supports about 100 Essbase cubes with 40 in hardcore
production. Web Analysis (Analyzer), Financial Reports, EIS, and
Hyperion Planning are in use. Analyzer and Reports are not used that
heavily but will be. The backend is BEA Weblogic (web server). Lots of
ETL work through whatever means necessary (MS Access, SQL Server, VB
scripting, etc.).
7.x is in use but System 9 is installed with migration-to-production
planned completed by end of this year. Several of the applications
will be reviewed for optimization. There will be new Essbase
development. In all, this is an excellent opportunity to learn,
experience, and grow.
The starting base salary is competitive and includes a bonus component
and full benefits package.
