Hello,

I'm trying to figure out how to have an SQL Server 6.5 (I'm evaluating both
Server 6.5 and Oracle to see which can do this the easiest) query an ODBC
datasourse (pointing to a unix system database) and transfer the data from the
unix world into local SQL Server tables periodically (say once a day). I
can't seem to find it in the docs. Any help would be great.

Cheers,
Keith

DTS in the SQL 7.0 package would be useful. There are also third party
products that provide data pumps. I don't think 6.5 would be your answer.

You'll probably want to use SQL Server 7.0 for this. The books online for
7.0 are available at http://support.microsoft.com/support/sql

Hi Keith,
Since you are using 6.5, you cannot use DTS that comes with 7.0. I have
written a program that you can use to transfer data from one source to
another. It is called WinSQL. It can be downloaded from
http://www.imranweb.com/freesoft. Get the professional version. You can
create a transfer template in WinSQL and then use any Windows scheduler
to execute WinSQL from a command prompt on a daily bases.
For more info visit the web page.

Thanks,
Imran.
