Running Access 8 (Office 97 ODE), with SR-1 Patch installed. Trying to
create an MDE file from a database I have recently modified (Added a couple
of queries, a form/subform combo, edited a couple other forms to make them
more appealing to the eye). Was able to successfully create MDE file before
install of SR-1 Patch. Now, after the MDE utility has run and compiled the
database and is trying to create the actual MDE file, I get an error
"Microsoft Access can't open the file MSJTER35.DLL".

Any suggestions?

Neil:

Haven't run into this one directly. However there is a second patch posed
for ODE users. It impacts primarily the setup wiz and ODBC 3.0, but you
might want to try it and see if that helps.

Neil,

It may be a security issue.

Be sure that you have full admin priviledges before trying to produce your
MDE file.

First thing I'd check is: Does that file exist in my \windows\system?

Neil,

I received this message after an aborted attempt to create MDE. (My
fault for the aborted run apparently--not enough space on disk). It
appeared c:\windows\system\msjter35.dll had become corrupted as a
result of this aborted run. I copied it from another PC, and
everything worked OK.

SEG :)

Problem also might be that the file setting in the registry was lost or
corrupted during the update. Access has done that to me a couple of times. Try
registering it with REGSERV32 and see what happens.
