I have been given the task of looking after a database. I don't have a huge
knowledge but I am learning. But Previously this system was running on
Access 2.0 under win3.11. We upgraded all the computers to win98 Second
Edition. After that, a message saying "not enough memory to update the
display. please close some programs ans try again" appeared after sending
4-8 print jobs to a dotmatrix printer off a win95 computer. The last print
job is cancelled and you cannot print until the computer has been reset.
This was then ugraded to access 97, as the next step in upgrading the
system. I also thought it may solve this problem, but it hasn't.

If you could help, it would be greatly appreciated.
If you can't, thanks anyway.
Dean

Sometimes (not always, but sometimes) error messages mean exactly what they
say. How much RAM do you have on that PC, and how much free hard disk space?

Well, that would seem to eliminate that possibility. Sorry if I haven't been
much help, but its always worth eliminating the most obvious things first.

Some other things that might be worth checking are the printer driver and
perhaps the video driver - did they get updated correctly when Windows 98
was installed? It might be worth checking the web sites of the printer and
video adapter manufacturers to see if there's an updated driver available.

A couple of other questions that might help someone to make a suggestion as
to what might be wrong: Is this happening on more than one PC? Does it
always happen with the same report? Any problems with other apps, or does it
only happen in the one app? Are the reports very complex? Is there any code
behind those reports, or complex calculations in the queries the reports are
based on?

Do you have embedded objects in your reports? One or more of these may be
causing a resource leak.
