I was one of those who heard "squirrel" but I ordered it and gobbled it
down anyway and thought it very fine indeed. I was just making a note to
myself to try to locate a source of dessert squirrels in Edmonton when
someone pointed out that it was a "swirl". :-(

You might be interested in another recent London pigeon story. The
creatures began disappearing from Trafalgar Square. Scotland Yard
thought that foul play was involved but American tourists
concerned about the quality of their shower water were not among the
suspects. It turned out that a teenager was catching the poor birds
and selling them to his uncle for 10 pence a piece. The uncle worked
in the catering business and one of his specialities was a local
delicacy called 'pigeon pie'...
Karl did an excellent job organising the Internet Dinner. I am sure
he won't mind doing it again next year. Who knows, perhaps we'll have
Cajun Pigeon on the menu?

I was sitting right next to Kitty and it was obvious the waiter said
"swirl". She must have been fooling around with the corks too much, or
trying the hand-test with the silverware.
