I am developing a software application using VB 6.0 to connect to a
Informix database which is on UNIX . The client machine has Informix Client
SDK 2.7 . The VB application uses ODBC to connect to the Informix database.
When i pass the same parameters using Informix ODBC driver Version 3.34 and
try to connect
it does not work . The error shown is Unspecified system error = -11356 and
System error = - 23101 . Are there any parameters to be set using Informix
Setnet32 ? .
The InformixServer and InformixSQLHOSTS settings were set in Setnet32.
In the Services file in C:\Windows\services file the service name is
mentioned as
well in the Hosts file in C:\Windows\hosts the tcp/ip address and host name
is mentioned.
DBPing utility also does not work. Please let me know the solution for this.

Regards,
Vivek

I had the same problem with Informix Client SDK 2.70.TC1-1 downloaded from
Informix site. I needed Informix Connect. I am using ODBC drivers (Informix
CLI 2.50) for a long time, and I never had any problems with Setnet32
values, or services, sqlhosts on Unix side.....
I got Unspecified System Error and some other errors for GLS settings.
I was modifying values in Setnet32 and nothing helped, so I uninstalled
Informix Connect.
I install Informix Connect from install CD for Informix Dynamic Server
9.21.UC4, and everything was perfect. My old settings form Setnet32 work
again.
So try older ODBC driver.

We use 2.7 with 3.34 without any problems to a SE7.23 Unixware. First
we found was: Settings done in setnet32 damage the settings done over
systemsettings/ODBC Data.
So, if maked settings with setnet32, recheck your points via ODBC Data
and correct they.
All the DBping-test work now OK!
