I set up a Informix 7.3 database. I need to export tables from a previous
version to a file and the import them to this version.

Do i have to use dbimport and dbexport ?

Can anyone detail me the parameters of this commnands ?

When i try to create a database it takes a long time and I have no
response, what do you think is happenning ? When I try to create small
tables in an existing database (ex: sysutils) happens the same.

Thanks,

JG (UADC)

Depends on the differences between the versions. When I've gone from
7.1 to 7.2 or 7.2 to 7.3, I made sure that I had decent backups and
upgraded in place. No problems for us.

I didn't try an inplace upgrade from 5.0x to 7.1x. I took that downtime
and rearranged my entire Informix system, so export / import was the way
to go for me. (Then my instance grew and I wasn't able to use dbimport
/ dbexport any more . . . )
