Migration to HP Itanium from PA-Risc

Hi All,

Currently I am working on migrating the Informix application running
on HP PA Risc 11i 64 bit to HP Itanium 64 bit. The informix 4gl for HP
Itanium is yet to be released by IBM. I have planned to take an tar of the
installation of Informix 4gl software from HP PA Risc 11 I to Itanium. Is
that ok ? will it work? Will installing informix 4gl modify any of the
existing shared libraries, if so then I will not be able to extract from HP
Pa risc to Itanium. Any idea when 4gl on Itanium on HP will be released???

We have IDS, ESQL , but not 4gl on Itanium....

No - it is incredibly unlikely that PA-RISC software will run on
Itanium, unless you know something about an emulator for PA-RISC on
Itanium that I don't.

You cannot do that. Incompatible processors. You can try using Aubit 4GL,
it currently is over 97% compatible with 4GL and the one major
incompatibility I found I had to report to IBM as a bug in the way C4GL
initializes structures, Aubit does it correctly.

Installing the PA-RISC version of 4GL on Itanium is not recommended. Y=
ou
will not be able to develop applications on Itanium with this since you=

cannot mix and match PA-RISC and Itanium objects.

Note that 4GL applications on PA RISC can connect to IDS on Itanium via=

network protocol.

4GL 7.32.FC2 for HP Itanium GA'ed on 04/30/04 and should be orderable=

Hi,
4GL 7.32.xC2 for HP Itanium platforms (both 32 BIT and 64BIT) is
now available and can be ordered through Passport advantage.
The 4GL binraries build on HP PA Risc 11 are incompatible on HP
Itanium. Since there is a seperate release now, I think you should be able
to get the right product for your OS.
