Hi all,

I am having trouble getting my Informix 9.2 server initialized on
Solaris. Maybe you have some advice? I am definitely a novice at this so
apologies now for silly mistakes.

Here is the output from "oninit -ivy":

bash-2.01$ oninit -ivy

oninit: Fatal error in shared memory initialization

I'm using the suggested /etc/system parameters from the
release/en_us/0333/IDS_9.2 file:

set enable_sm_wa = 1
set shmsys:shminfo_shmmax=268435456
set semsys:seminfo_semmap=64
set semsys:seminfo_semmni=4096
set semsys:seminfo_semmns=4096
set semsys:seminfo_semmnu=4096
set semsys:seminfo_semume=64
set semsys:seminfo_semmsl=100
set shmsys:shminfo_shmmin=100
set shmsys:shminfo_shmmni=100
set shmsys:shminfo_shmseg=100

My error occurs in the same place as another user on Linux but I think
that problem was an unsupported NETTYPE. I think mine is ok?

Any clues to what the server is trying to do at this point in the
initialization?

Many thanks,
Lucy (lmon...@silverstream.com)

You might want to look at the online message file.

You don't need the set enable_sm_wa = 1, just remove the line.
Try starting the engine with the minimum of alterations to the supplied
onconfig, this will work. What's in your online.log???

Edit $INFORMIXDIR/etc/$ONCONFIG check what the MSGPATH is set to
and what this file contains.

set shmsys:shminfo_shmmin=1
otherwise powerd fails to set since it tries to allocate a 28 byte
shared memory segment and fails!

Thanks all!

Yes, I went to the online messages file (i.e. informix_home/online.log)
and found that my permissions were incorrect for root_chunk
cooked file (painful oversight!) but also I had an incorrect
specification in my services file. It did not correspond with the proper
tcp entry in sqlhosts.

I found the detailed errors for these two problems in online.log after
"oninit -ivy" failed.

I was confused because oninit was complaining about failure of shared
memory initialization but the other problems were just manifesting
themselves as part of the shared mem init process.

I will also remove that other kernel parameter.

Many thanks again!

Experiencing problems getting IIF2000 web datablade for Linux (Development
Version) to build with Apache 1.3.12.

It seems that the Informix Web Datablade (software and documentation) have
not kept up with Apache.
After modifying src/Configuration.tmpl I am getting undefined reference to
explode_module, undefined reference to expolde_module_ssi etc, etc.

Has anyone been able to get Apache (Version 1.3.12) and the Web Datablade
to build together? If so I would like to know what they did?

Thanks,
Moses
