this is the error message in the online.log we have been getting

WARNING! Physical Log size 300000 is too small.
Physical Log overflows may occur during peak activity.
Recommended minimum Physical Log size is 160 times maximum
concurrent user threads.

Onmonitor shows the following....

Press ESC to modify the physical log.
Press Interrupt to cancel the option and return to the Parameters
menu.
Press F2 or CTRL-F for field level help.

MODIFY PHYSICAL LOG

Physical Log Size [ 300000] Kbytes

Dbspace Name [rootdbs ]
I thought that we moved the physical log some time back but I guess
not.

I have a dbspace plogdbs available to use which is 400000Kb in size

onstat -d plogdbs - shows the following

DBspace Usage Report: plogdbs Owner: informix Created:
07/01/1998
Chunk Pathname Pagesize(k) Size(p)
Used(p) Free(p)

Total Free: 49947

Now I am confused here...this seems to show that the Physical Log is
300000Kb in size and is in plogdbs and not rootdbs as stated in
onmonitor.

Am I missing something here?

Onmonitor shows my physical log is in rootdbs also, but that's not true here either (see below).  Looks like Onmonitor is broken, which is probably fine, it is being phased out in favor of OAT, Server Studio, and other modern tools and is only included for historical reasons at this point.

What does onstat -l show?  the phybegin column in the report will show the chunk#:offset of the physical log.  So on mine I have:

IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 11.70.FC3 -- On-Line -- Up 3 days 01:23:57 -- 491696 Kbytes
