ONCONFIG file only for server or for informix client

I am using the informix csdk 240 on Solaris 2.6
When I searched for the ONCONFIG file I didn't found any.
The ENV var isn't set too.

Do I only need this file for informix server ?

Yes. CSDK does not need $ONCONFIG. I'm pretty sure that
the 5.x ESQL/C did need $TBCONFIG if you were accessing
OnLine, but it is a long time ago...I think that by 7.2x,
ESQL/C did not need $ONCONFIG; I'm not sure when that
changed. It should have been 6.00; I'm not certain it was.
