Hi,

I can't see why 'onbar' is not working as I want it to. I can't create a
backup !

I am trying to make a backup with 'onbar - b -w' on a SUN machine running
Solaris 2.6.
My Informix OnLine is version 7.30.uc8. My first try with 'onbar' on this
machine is with ISM.
The 'onbar -b -w' returns after 3-4 sec.

In my server log i get:
14:24:37 Checkpoint Completed: duration was 0 seconds.
14:24:38 Level 0 Archive started on tb50root1dbs, tb50plog1dbs,
tb50tlog1dbs, tb50tmp1dbs, tb50mmx1dbs
14:24:40 Archive on tb50root1dbs, tb50plog1dbs, tb50tlog1dbs, tb50tmp1dbs,
tb50mmx1dbs ABORTED.
14:24:40 Aborted by client.

In my ONCONFIG file I have:
# Backup/Restore variables
BAR_ACT_LOG /usr/Informix/bar_act.log
BAR_MAX_BACKUP 10
BAR_RETRY 1
BAR_NB_XPORT_COUNT 100
BAR_XFER_BUF_SIZE 100
BAR_BSALIB_PATH /usr/Informix/lib/libbsa.so # XBSA shared lib path
BAR_DEBUG 9
RESTARTABLE_RESTORE off # Status of restartable restore
LOG_BACKUP_MODE MANUAL # MANUAL or CONT
# Informix Storage Manager variables
ISM_DATA_POOL ISMData # If the data pool name is changed, be sure
to
# update $INFORMIXDIR/bin/onbar. Change to
# ism_catalog -create_bootstrap -pool <new name>
ISM_LOG_POOL ISMLogs

My 'onbar' log file ends with:
2000-05-11 14:20:34 10374 10373 WARNING: BAR_XFER_BUF_SIZE exceeded

Basically, onbar is working... what appears to have failed is ISM. Have you
looked at the log files for ISM to see if there are any errors? (dumb
question coming) Was ISM started? Were ISM volumes mounted?

Thanks Doug,

I thinks, that I have found the problem - Will try to solve it.
Yes I ISM was started and I could mount the volumes, but I found out,
that Legato now is installed on the machine.
