Question, has anyone used the Informix “truncate table” command inside of App Engine in PeopleSoft.

I recommended that the developer use the “truncate table” during processing of a specific process to reduce the runtime.

She has tried to put the “commit work” immediately after the “truncate table” command in App Engine, but it has not worked, it is executing another SQL statement after the “truncate table” command and not the “commit work”.

Thanks, Jeff

Truncate is not logged, hence not in transaction

Truncate is logged, but transaction needs to be committed/rolled back immediately.

Regds,
Uday.

Perhaps you meant truncate is logged but can not be used in
a transaction.

e.g will the following work:-

BEGIN WORK ;
DELETE FROM TABLE_A WHERE ... ;
TRUNCATE TABLE_B ;
UPDATE TABLE_C SET ..
COMMIT WORK ;

My guess, based on SQL server and Sybase, is that it will not work.
Please confirm.
