Unable to connect to Informix Database Server on IDS

Hi! All,

I have a problem in connecting to my database in Informix Dynamic Server
for Windows NT.

While connecting it gives the Following error:

- Illegal sqlhosts file option/parameter, parameter, for
dbservername, servername.

Error No. -27004

I have checked the "dbserver name" and "server name" in the
onconfig.dbserver file.

Also, the TCP "servicename" and "port no." from the
winnt/system32/drivers/etc/services are correctly entered using Informix
Setnet 32.

I am not able to figure out the mistake in the installation.

Another, problem that "sometimes" strikes is that the service stops as
soon as it is started. At that time we have to restart the machine.

Anybody having any idea about this problem please help.

What Informix engine? What NT service pack level?

One of the parameters in sqlhosts, which here is in the registry, is
incorrect. Check setnet32 versus release notes. If you list them someone
may be able to help.

Also, yesterday I saw the following message in "INFORMIXDIR/ks2i.log"
when I started the database server. As soon as the server is started the
server is stopped.

sqlhosts file option/parameter.

17:10:04 Attempting to bring listener thread down.

17:10:04 Server stopped.

Hope that this information explains my problem well..

Amar, the service is shutting down as soon as it is started, so your
suggestion did not work. Any other solutions you know about? please let
me know.

I also think that there might be something in the ODBC connection settings
which has been configured wrongly..
Eg.: you might give a parameter in the options box, which informix does not
recognise....

Please try change option from 1526 to blank.

I get same message when I set option 1526.

Which version of IDS & Win NT ??
Error-messages in the online.log / messages.log Files ??
Need the onconfig-file ....

crashing....try to delete the "Option"-entry (if exists)

and all client-registries !!!) and try again !!
