I attempted an install on my MacBook Pro, and could not get IDS to start.
The install _did_ complete without incident up until the demo was being
initialized, and then completed telling me to look at the log. Several
attempts at oninit -iy yielded more errors... help! *<8o)

I uninstalled it and then put it in /opt/informix ... all seems to be working...
Looks like there's some kind of permissions problems on Mac if you try to put it in /Applications or under that tree.

12:52:18 Performance Advisory: Logical log file size might be too small for a
checkpoint to complete.
12:52:18 Results: The size of individual logical log files is too small for
the current workload, resulting in each log file filling very
quickly. If log files fill in less than 30 seconds, the checkpoint
might remain blocked because the last log file fills during the time
needed to perform the checkpoint.
12:52:18 Action: Increase the size of the individual logical log files so
that it takes at least 30 seconds to fill each one. Look at the
online log to determine how quickly the log files are filling, and
then increase the size of the files proportionately.

Did you only change the install path? I don't see how the install path can
cause any that error... But I never put my hands on Mac OSX...

My email works... but I don't check it frequently...
I installed everything as it came, no changes to the installation. The installer
pointed the installation to /Applications/IBM/Informix. Not exactly what I would
recommend with what little I know about MacOSX, or my preference. I wanted to see
if the default installation would actually install. I also enabled roles, just an
FYI. But everything else was default.
On the second pass I changed it to /opt/informix, which is more compatible with
having nothing to do with IBM on my system--well at least visually or mechanically
anyway.
Thanks,
