It depends on which version of ACE you are using, but assuming it is not
more than 10 years old, you need to get a set of ISQL manuals, purchasable
from Informix. When you have worked out the version number (sacego -V
should tell you), then you can be told which version of the manuals to
order...
If you do not use 'sacego' but use 'acego', we have a more serious problem.
You're probably using Informix 3.30 (you have a dbase.dbd file somewhere),
and you are rapidly running out of time -- Informix 3.30 has no concept of
centuries, so all dates are inherently part of the current century (or
maybe its the 20th century), and therefore everything will go haywire
starting from 2nd January 2000 (assuming you celebrate the New Year on the
1st:-). If you are using Informix 3.30, it is way past time to upgrade to
an SQL-based system.

No whipping here--I use Ace all the time; I think it's still a great
tool.
Informix has documentation available (it's in their SQL Reference/User
Guide books), and Johnathan Leffler has written a very good book called
"Using Informix-SQL" that contains several good chapters on Ace (as well
as Perform).
Have fun...

ACE documentation is around, but you have to know where to find it. It
used to be in the guides to SQL, but now is in the product documentation
for Informix-SQL. For the definitive answer, you can check the IIUG archives.
I went through several hoops before I got it figured out, and posted the
results
there.
See:
http://www.iiug.org
and follow the links down to the CDI archives. Using the Glimpse search
engine you can type in the following string "ACE;manual" (good luck with
that query syntax. Fortunately, there are links to the man pages to help
us poor souls to figure it out.) My answer is 1995.11/cdib.11947 .
It's a good product, enjoy.

ACE is, well, ACE!
It is cheap and small and we encourage ALL our customers to have a
development copy as they can then write lots of useful (to them)
reports. It's also ACE for writing an SQL to correct a database problem
- dead useful when doing data takeon as all sources seem to be a bit
dodgy!
But heh! You sound like you *enjoy* being whipped! So don't be shy
just start posting to 'alt.sex.nurds.whipping.gates.gates.jobs' and have
a great time. :-)

I-SQL 6.01.UD1. The manual set that I have states that ACE exists,
but does little more than that. I have learned the ACE syntax from
copying the example reports shipped with I-SQL. However simple and/or
old the product is, it is still a handy tool for quick and dirty
reports and I would like to have some more documentation on hand.
