IDS v10FC8
HPUX 11.23
w2k3 Server
Iconnect 3.00 FC2

Hello,

I have a developer attempting to connect to an Informix database through
OLEDB from SQL Sever 2005 SSIS. The following msg is being observed. The
following is also being encountered when attempting to create a SQL Server
Linked Server connection using OLEDB.

This issue is seen with the 32 bit csdk 3.50 on a w2k3 32 bit box as well.

Any help/assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Error text from SSIS pkg:
Test connection failed because of an error in intializing provider. No
error message available, result code:
DB_E_ERRORSOCCURRED(0x8004E21)

Error text from Linked Server:
An exception occured while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch
(Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo)

The OLE DB provider "ifxoledbc" for linked server "<svrname>" reported an
error. The provider did not give any info about the error.
Cannot initialize the data source object of OLEDB provider "ifxoledbc" for
linked server "<svrname>". (Microsoft SQL Server, Error:7399)

Have you run the required coledbp.sql script, provided in the CSDK, against the sysmaster database on the database server?

Did you run the follow on the server?
OLE:
dbaccess sysmaster $INFORMIXDIR/etc/coledbp.sql

Just to let you know for Dot Net

.NET
dbaccess sysmaster $INFORMIXDIR/etc/cdotnet.sql

Forgot.  You get these from the CDSK install directorys not the server install.

Hey Joe, Thanks for the response.

Yes, I dropped the previous running doledbp.sql and ran the latest

Are you sure your security permissions are not causing issues ? Have you checked your linked server properties for security ?
Also can you post your connection string attributes being used ?

Shot in the dark... Try putting CLIENT_LOCALE and DB_LOCALE in the connection
string.
Regards.

Good Morning,

Here's the resolution for solving our connectivity issue w/OLEDB:

We set CLIENT_LOCALE=en_US.CP1252 and DB_LOCALE=en_US.819

Informix Tech support assisted with the resolution - PMR 10512,487,000 for
those interested.

Thanks again to all who responded!
