Try onspaces instead of tbspaces.

Dear Informix Users:

Using Informix 5.0 the command to turn on/off mirroring is/was

off: tbspaces -s rootdbs -p $UMSHOME/data/mirror.chunk -D -o 0 -y
on : tbspaces -s rootdbs -p $UMSHOME/data/mirror.chunk -O -o 0 -y
Now using Informix 7.0 the tbspaces program is gone?

Under 7.x, the "tb..." utilities are now "on..." utilities. In this case, onspaces. Check
the Online DSA Admin Guide for syntax.

The problem lies in how easily and dangerously we forget that
manipulating things is not the same as understanding them.

Hi-Jon,

The command is verymuch there, along with other command name changes,
from the left over of Informix-Turbo's "tb-------" to On-Line's
"on-------" this command changed to "onspaces".

Several things:

In general, replace "tb" with "on" and most of the commnands work
in a similar fashion. See 'onspaces --' for help with that particular
command.

You don't want to use the 7.0 product. The latest currently generally
available is 7.24, with 7.3 coming in the spring. Be sure you have
the latest one for your platform.

It almost goes without saying, but here it is anyway. RTFM! There
are so many changes in the DSA products over the older versions that
you really should familiarize yourself with the entire doc suite
all over again. Some things have been moved around inside the docs
and you just have to know where to look. (Such as the information in
the old I-SQL manuals.)

Lastly, you should take the System Administration class for DSA. It
will give you some valuable experience in a non-critical environment.
In North America I understand there is a special program now underway
giving customers who take the training classes a free chance to take
the Informix Certified Professional examinations. That doesn't hurt,
and gives you a chance to demonstrate a familiarity with the many
features of the 7.x products.

Enjoy the new products.

Jon,

Try using onspaces in place of tbspaces.
I believe Informix has changed the first two characters of all the
utilities from 'tb' to 'on' in version 7.
