I just downloaded the "clientsdk.3.50.TC3DE.WIN" I am configuring the
ODBC client DSN. Everything test great on multiple protocols such as
onsoctcp,olsoctcp, sesoctcp, ... connecting to a Informix 10 database.
The question I have is which protocol should I use? What do they stand
for what are the advantages and disadvantages of each.

I have had problem in the past losing query data or temorary
disconnects durring times of heavy usage of our database using
onsoctcp. I am not sure what to use.

P.S.

Short answer, onsoctcp.
olsoctcp was used for older engine versions.
sesoctcp is used for Standard Engine (SE) versions (not IDS).

Then you may have other options, but they're used for local connections.

Your past problems should not be related to the protocol you used. Maybe some
other TCP options, or some bug...

Regards.
