You may be able to lure new Mac folks in, but us oldies remember Wingz
and I doubt it'll sell. Good luck, though. I'd love to see someone slap
MS Gates and Co.

Remember it ??? I'm still using it. It runs fine on my SE/30, Q700 and PPC
7100/80 all running sys 7.5.3 !!! The new company handling wingz dev has a
web page at http://www.wingz.com/Welcome.html with links to the spread
sheet and the dev tools.

A quick look at the spread sheet didn't indicate that much has changed
(other than the second example crashing my 7100).

Take a look and have fun.

Hi Mark,
Well I used to be a developer for it, and now am part of the
development team. A LOT of work has gone into mac wingz2.1
and hyperscript tools and may not be as you remember it.

ie. Its now powermac native and has odbc connectivity.

regards..

Problem? Well, how 'bout the fact that it went away! If someone needs a
spreadsheet badly, I'd think they'd need the thing to remain
supported/upgraded to have success.
I bought and loved lots of software that "died" but I'd be skeptical to
buy it again if it popped up on the market.

dunno what your problem with wingz was, the only problem I ever found with

it was insufficient marketing muscle to push Excel from it's perch. On an
8Mb IIfx it didn't choke til it had 20,000 rows by 20 columns with one of
the columns having a 13 level nested if statement, if I did that on my 840
in Excel 5 I could take a months leave while the sheet recalculated... and
even when it choked, it did so gracefully (with an apologetic out of
memory error).

We've still got one guy using it on an 8500, prefers it to excle 5 coz
it's leaner and quicker (same arg for excel 4).

YMMV

Have Fun

Hi Scott,
Well Wingz hasn't just 'popped' up. Versions on other platforms have
been around for some time (2 years). The mac version needed futher work.
eg. we decided that a native version was very important among other things.

We have been supporting the wingz family for about 2 years. We have a
support dept. in the UK (London), USA (Kansas) and France (Paris), so
we are not just going to fade away.

Since wingz is cross platform, we have sales for unix and windows, so
we will survive and wont just fade away.
