I am running EEE V7.2 FP4 on AIX. I have noticed many 7.1.0.xx.save
files in /usr. Below is a small sample. Does anybody know what these
files are designed to do and if they can safely be deleted? Tis the
season for some spring cleaning and I just happened across these
sizeable files. Thanks.

Hi, MrTulley,
When you apply the fixpak for db2 on AIX, during the installation of
fixpak, there is an option you can select whether commit or not your
upgrade. I guess maybe you selected "not commit", so leave
...7.1.o.xx.save there. But I am not sure.

Fan RX

Thanks for your reply.

I notice that these files exist whether or not the software is
committed or applied. Also, I was careful to select 'Save Replaced
files - No' when installing in SMITTY. We did a whole slew of UDB
Fixpak upgrades and some of the installs did not create these '.save'
files.

I can't imagine I would ever need them to restore to a previous code
level and it would be nice to free up this space in rootvg. But I
suppose I can leave them unless I hear it is safe to do otherwise.

Hi, Scott,
If so, then I have no idea.
I think maybe through some AIX commands, you can find which fileset make those files, then
maybe it will be a little easy to figure out.
