I am in trouble installing DB2 1.2 for OS/2.
When I type DBINST from the disk 1 of 5 of DB2, I get a Welcome message
screen and a message box saying "Loading files", after a while, it just
terminates and returns to the drive prompt. No message, no
explaination, just that.
I am using the original copy of the software.
Any idea what the problem is?
TIA.

If you try to install this package on a Warp-platform, you'll need a patch
to do the intallatioon.
Marten
NOTE: If you use the /D:<full path and file> option on DBINST
this will also allow the installation to continue.

Hi Marten:
This information applies only when installing db2 1.2 to OS/2 3.0
Type DBINST /DC:\INSTALL.LOG at the command prompt
This should allow your install to continue.
There is also a patch you can install:
The patch is called usin47.zip and is available from several different places.
You can call the IBM BBS in Raleigh at 1-919-517-0001, type DB2 on the
main menu.
You can also download from: ftp.software.ibm.com
Dir: ps/products/db2/fixes/english-us/db22v12/instfix47/usin47.zip.
There is also a file called usin47.txt there as well.

Yes, I know :-)

Quite interesting ... I was not aware that one could try this above ...
Marten
Hi:
I left out the colon in the syntax above.
It should read:
DBINST /D: C:\INSTALL.LOG
There should be a dbinst.log in os2\install. Find out what the error message is.
If installing DB2 1.2 onto OS/2 Warp, try this command when installing from
the OS/2 prompt:
DBINST /D: C:\INSTALL.LOG
There is also a software fix available from:
