Dear all,
I am trying to connect a Linux Client with DB2 Connect Personal Edition
to an AS/400 and its native Database. I got the IP Adress and the System
Name (took me only 4 hours of reading manuals), but I can´t find out the
port (service) to which I have to connect to. Our AS/400 guys don´t have
any idea about how to find out the port or how to start it.
Can anyone tell me the AS/400 commands to get the portnumber and how to
start the service on the AS/400?

Yours Sigrid

Go to
http://www-4.ibm.com/cgi-bin/db2www/data/db2/udb/winos2unix/support/v7pubs.d2w/en_con
and click on the "Connectivity Supplement". Then, go to the section
"Connecting DB2 Universal Database for AS/400 in a DRDA
Network Using TCP/IP". You will find some good information (and also "For
DRDA communications using TCP/IP the default port number for database
connections is 446".

For AS/400 info, see the Distributed Database Programming manual.

The default port on AS/400 is 446. Use the STRTCPSRV SERVER(DDM) command on
the AS/400.
