Export fields contents inserts an invisbile BOM which causes indegestion with .html files being read

I have created a solution that generates HTML files but I had a problem with meta tags which turned out to be an issue cause by Filemaker inserting an BOM at the beginning of the exported file. I understand that if we had an option to export as an UTF16 type there would be no problems.
Any solutions?
