Does anyone know if a file can be completely modified from a workstation
if it is being hosted (shared) by the FMP 5 Server? I have a file that
is shared by the server, and I have the Remote Administration
Application and FMP 5 open on my workstation. When I go into the FMP 5
application on my workstation, and try to get into the file to define
fields, it says:

"This command cannot be used with a shared file. To use this command,
make sure that you are the only user of the file".

How do I turn off the sharing if no one else is in the file? Can this be
done from my workstation (either through the FMP5 application or through
the Remote Administration Application, or do I have to go to the server
to turn it off?

Any info would be great. I have not been able to find any info in the
associated documentation.

You can change everything except for Define Fields (as you have
discovered) and passwords/groups.

To change those, you must "unhost" the file (close) in Server, then
re-open the file from regular FM. Then make your changes, then close the
file, then re-host it in Server.

It sounds like you're using a Mac. Turn the file sharing off on the Mac, not
the FMP application.
