I have the latest version of TAS books accounting software (v3.18) and
I wish to read data from the TAS Books database into my Visual Basic
program via ODBC or otherwise. (All the TAS data files have '.b'
extensions)

I even have the Pervasive.SQL 2000 software but although I managed to
import the files into my own btrieve database, what I really need to
do is: from one click of a button in my VB application, read in the
data and procees it. I also need to redistribute my application to
other pc's so I dont see how using the Pervasive engine can help me
unless there is a way to programmatically read the data from a DSN or
something.

Is it possible to do this? I can find little information from
anywhere, to help me do this.

Any help from you is much appreciated!

TAS Software do an SDK for the TAS Books Accounting range (inc v3.18),
so a call to their Dublin or Epson office may provide a solution.

If not let me know, and we'll look at other options...

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately TAS Software expect me to pay the full price for their
SDK (which isn't cheap) even though I only want to import records from
1 database table. (Also they havent returned my phone calls or
emails!)
What other options are there?

Well, I suppose there're two main ones:
(1) If you can suss out the file's layout, use a DDF tool to create a
DDF for it and then use the Pervasive ActiveX controls to access it.
(2) Get someone else who has the SDK and/or in-house cability to
develop an export routine for you (we could)
