On 10/21/96, Kelly Kazem composed a News article about ADABAS ODBC:
~Hi,
~
~Does anyone know of an ODBC driver for MS Windows NT(32 bit), which
can
~access ADABAS on IBM/MVS.

Adabas and Natural are products of Software Ag (SAG) of Germany. Check
out the SAG-US affiliate home page for more info at

http://www.sagus.com

Sorry Kelly, but I do not have direct experience with the product you
are interested in, nor do I really know if such an animal exists. I DO
know however that the SAGUS site is very informative and that
questions to their staff posted to the webmaster GET ANSWERED.

Kelly,
We looked into this option. We have ADABAS C on MVS machine. In order to
run ODBC, you need a product that is called ADASQL that runs on the
mainframe. You will also need the ODBC driver. I am not sure how the
pricing is for these products. We decided against ODBC and are using SAG's
Entire Network and Entire Broker. We are making Remote Procedure Calls
(RPC) to pre-defined data access subprograms on the mainframe. This seems
to be pretty fast and reliable.
