As a new manager of a DBA group. I was wondering what activities the DBA's
should be involved in to make sure the application the developers are
writing are performing well, not wasting CPU cycles.


Recently it was discovered a query that was not using indexes and machine
performance was terrible.

I am looking for how other shops avoid performance issues.

sure the developer's use bind variables.
