Help with uninstall Oracle

Hi All
I've tried to install Oracle9i Database 9.2.0.1.0 on my Win XP machine.
Unfortunatly the installation process failed and I ended up with a half
completed installation.

I then uninstalled the DB from my system with the 'Universal Installer'.

I've started the installation process again and the installer complained
that my SID (Oracle System Identifier) is allready installed on the system!!
It is very important that I can use a certain SID on my system.

What Do I have to do to proberly uninstall the Oracle Database including my
SID and all related files and registry entries???
Is there any site (www) where an proper unistall procedure is explained?

I have not tried this with 9i, however I would assume the registry entries
are simmilar to 8i. This will only work if you have no other Oracle products
on this machine, and you wish to remove all Oracle products from this
machine. It gets a little trickier if you have multiple products installed
on the machine. I probably don't need to warn you that you should be very
careful when you edit the registry, and you should probably backup the
registry before attempting this.

1) Unistall using the Universal installer.
2) Run regedit
3) Goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE
4) Delete the Oracle Key


Reboot and re-install

Hi Martin
Try to stop all Oracle service from ur machine. U can stop them
from Control Panel -> Administrative tool -> Services. Then remove all
Oracle installation directory from ur machine. Generally the name is
ORANT in XP. Then remove the hkey_local_machine and
hkey_current_user. Now u wil be able to install.
